Nick Savvides (aka Nick Water) is a hip-hop artist and seasoned community activist from Astoria, New York. He graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s in Architecture, where he was a New York Needs You Fellow and a Coca-Cola Foundation Scholar. He was also a participant in the College of Human Ecology’s Terra Verde 2012 abroad program (which evaluated eco-design and philosophy in Holland, Germany, and Switzerland) and conducted an invited service trip to Rajasthan, India that mapped over 500 residential and infrastructural sites and surveyed over 2,000+ village residents on site usage patterns. Currently a Coordinator at the reNew Lots Market & Artist incubator, Nick was the Founder & Program Administrator for Practice Makes Perfect Inc., a Youth Advocate for the Parsons Scholars College Access Program at the Parsons New School for Design, an Instructor of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation, and a volunteer for Queens Neighborhood United and Brooklyn Grange Farm. Fluent in English, Spanish and Greek, Nick brings an international perspective with an interest in the hyperlocal: themes he explores in the upcoming release of his 2nd EP and sequel to RECITATION. As a Contributor of the Aesir Lab’s Think Tank Team, Nick will focus on neighborhood revitalization and community building through arts, local business, and social justice.
